Fullcircle is teaming up with children’s charity Dreams and Wishes and together, the two organisations held their first fundraising Bikeathon event last Friday. The event was held at Marks and Spencer in Leckwith, Cardiff to raise money and awareness from the public to support The Fullcircle Foundation Kilimanjaro team, who will be reaching the summit of the peak in October 2013. The event raised over £750.00 for the challenge.
The main event was a Bikeathon, where a static bike was brought into the store and members of the team took it in turns to ride the bike, ensuring they pedalled as far as they could in order to raise as much money as possible.
A team from Fullcircle, Paralympian John Harris and Fullcircle Managing Director Marc Eckley, together with Dreams and Wishes ambassador, Mark Hudson and supporter, Adam Rattenbury joined together to show their support throughout the day by making sure the bike kept going and to help out in bag packing for the in-store customers event.
The event was so successful that The South Wales Echo featured the story on 15th May 2013, giving kudos to Marc, Mark and the team of volunteers.
Trustee of Dreams and Wishes, Sian Kosinski said: ‘It was a really successful day! Everyone has really pulled together to make sure the bike kept going and with the bag packing, we’ve managed to raise a great amount which will support the teams when they climb Kilimanjaro.’
Fullcircle Managing Director, Marc Eckley said: ‘The massive support received from the public has really given our Kilimanjaro Teams a vital boost. All the money we raised today will be donated directly to Dreams and Wishes to fulfil the dreams of seriously ill children and their families.’
